TWith a baseboard area of such a small size and largely covered with track 'Scenics' will be very limited. With this constraint in mind I had to think of how best to avoid casting shadows onto a sky or 'distant' scenic background. The best solution I could think of was to model a small yard hemmed in to its surroundings by typical arches seen in South London.
The arched retaining walls are kits from LCUT Creative which run the length of the rear of the scenic section. To the L/H end I had purchased another LCUT kit for a more plain retaining wall, but thought the scene may look a little contrived, so opted for an Intentio low-relief industrial building instead. This was supplied with plain walls, however a friend suggested fitting doors for rail access. Having cobbled together some scale sketches I found I could fit two dummy roll doors. These were assembled from Evergreen section and Slaters corrugated sheet, the low relief building brought forward slightly into the layout with a foam board sub structure clad with more Slaters sheet material and Evergreen strip, plus some offcuts from the removed wall section.,
The modified Intentio warehouse and LCUT Creative arches. A concrete base was formed from grey board.
To bring the building up to rail height and to give a better impression of a railway workshop facility, the ground was built up with grey board to resemble a concrete base.
